Information architects create the 3 dimensional journeys that people will take through a website. The information architect won't build the site. They won't design it either. They create, on paper, user journeys made of linking pages and information on the Web. Users then move through that.

Concepts between clicks
Information Architects humanise the digital space by creating flows of information that reflect the needs and desires of people who arrive at a site. They ensure availability and relevance of content and functionality: e-commerce experiences, filling in forms, playing with thingy’s.

The kind of concepts used by Information Architects deal with how a person can be made to feel while clicking from page to page through a website or web object. This is not seen by users but felt.

This is created through the ordering and presentation of content and functionality. By observing the needs of customers, user journeys can be created that lead people through an experience and to their desired objectives.

During this journey a feeling of affinity may be instilled, a confirmation of understanding, a sense of trust. The purpose, from our point of view, is to instill in the visitor, a sense that they are somehow getting nearer to the product, service or brand.
