As you move deeper into the station you are confronted with choices necessary for you to navigate to where you need to go to. The signs are careful to point out the full list of stations and options available at junctures between directions. In this case: stations on the Piccadilly Line to the East and the West.

Websites need to do the same thing. As a person clicks deeper into a site they make choices which then hide other areas on the site. For this reason the specific journey the user is taking needs to confirm where they are going and the options available in that journey.

Without this information uncertainty sets in, in the mind of the user and they are more likely to make impulsive clicks. Not finding what they desire on the other side of that click leads to frustration, an unpleasant journey and usually leads to the person leaving the site.
